Seen but not Heard
Write a scene with at least three people in it, one of whom has little to no dialogue. Do not ignore the non-speaker and do not give them unspoken dialogue to take the place of what they don’t say out loud so it feels like they are still speaking. Instead, make the non-speaker a vital piece of the scene’s dynamic, their inability or refusal to speak part of what makes the scene tick.
